Heath Firestone
Hi,  I’m Heath Firestone, and I created CinemaTechnica to provide a resource for filmmakers, as well as those interested in making short films, movies, or videos.

We have broken the site into multiple areas, including:
Blog: My thoughts about Film Industry Topics
Reviews: Equipment and Software Reviews
News: Film Industry and Related News
Film School: What you would have learned in filmschool
Kids: Smaller Scale, Inexpensive, & Educational Videos
Forums: Social Media Enhanced Forum, where you can interact with other filmmakers, ask questions, and make friends with common interests.

My background is pretty varied, which is reflected in the layout of this website. I have been working in the film industry professionally since 1993. I have taught seven different subjects at the college level including six at The Colorado Film School, as well as a senior level Advanced 2D/3D Compositing for Animation course at The Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design which is now part of Full Sail University.

My background is pretty much equal parts creative and technical, breaking that common misconception that you are either creative or technical. In fact most of the people I have come to know and respect are skilled in both areas as well, and that mindset is very much part of the inspiration for CinemaTechnica.

I have betatested for a number of companies including Adobe, Matrox, and Discreet (now Autodesk). I have also consulted for NASA and AMD, and have even worked on Augmented Reality projects for Government contractors. I was an early adopted of HD technologies, having bought my first HDCAM camera in 2002, and in fact Matrox’s first HD capture card/ graphics accelerator series, the Axio HD and Axio LE, were designed based on my recommendations.
