Frame.io at NAB 2022

If you aren’t familiar with Frame.io, its probably time you learned about them. I had a vague idea of what Frame.io was, as a media cloud service, but since I wasn’t using it, I didn’t realize everyone would be talking about them at NAB this year. So, what is Frame,io, and why is everyone talking about them?

Adobe bought Frame.io a while back, and if you have an Adobe Cloud Subscription, you should already have access to 100GB of Frame.io cloud storage, and a two user, unlimited viewer license. So you can use it as a way to share your videos or access your media across remote locations, but where it really excels is in this new C2C or Camera to Cloud workflow that is being embraced by many companies at NAB this year. Check out my Atomos Blog here, to see how they are working with Frame.io.

In the video below, Paul walks us through the basics, and then shows us how you can access it if you have the newest version of Premiere Pro installed on your system. It isn’t limited to Adobe, and works on many applications. But simply put, it makes doing live editing, live updating, or live sharing of content with proxies, or full resolution versions available depending on settings, from any internet connection.

As you would expect. the main limiting factor is the speed of your internet connection, and things can get a little confusing, because your device may be set only to upload proxy files, or both proxy and raw, and meanwhile Frame.io may generate different proxies. But this is all intended just to make it as accessible as possible, so you could do things like edit on your laptop even when away from your editing machine, and then can reconnect to the higher resolution files when you are back online with your primary editing machine, Or it can be used with a remote editor or collaborator.

With the shift to remote working, which was accelerated by the pandemic, this is one of the main tools making a shift to an off-site collaboration not only possible, but pretty painless.

Watch the video below for more details, and details on how to access your account within Premiere Pro.

  1. Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.

  2. Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video to make your point. You obviously know what youre talking about, why throw away your intelligence on just posting videos to your blog when you could be giving us something enlightening to read?

  3. Nice read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing some research on that. And he just bought me lunch because I found it for him smile Thus let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch! “Bill Dickey is learning me his experience.” by Lawrence Peter Berra.

  5. With havin so much content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright infringement?
My website has a lot of completely unique content I’ve either authored myself
or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my permission. Do
you know any ways to help prevent content from being
    stolen? I’d definitely appreciate it.
