I really like Quasar Lights. They produce very good color, and their Rainbow lights are really flexible with lots of built in effects. But now, with the Rainbow 2 and Double Rainbow lights, they have gotten even cooler If you’ve read my other posts about NAB 2022, you know that one of the big focuses has been on virtual production. Quasar Science has also delved into that realm, offering pixel mapping capabilities with their new lights. While this requires additional hardware and software to control the lights, you get the advantage of being able to feed images into arrays of Rainbow 2 lights, to get a color accurate, animated lighting system. I interviewed CTO Ben Dynice who explained how it all works.
