Review: Xencelabs’ Pen Display 16

Heath Firestone  –  July/August 2024 VITAL STATS MANUFACTURER: Xencelabs PRODUCT: Pen Display 16 PRICING: Bundle $1,249; Essentials $999 WEBSITE: www.xencelabs.com Recently, Xencelabs released their second display tablet, which I have been looking forward to since I first encountered Xencelabs at NAB a few years ago. Their first display tablet was 24-inches and is meant for desktop-only applications. This one, however, is a much more modest 15.6-inches, and designed to work either on a desktop or as a portable option. I’m

Review: Velocity Micro ProMagix HD80A

MANUFACTURER: Velocity Micro PRODUCT: ProMagix HD80A PRICE: Base: $4,079; as tested: $7,999 WEBSITE: www.velocitymicro.com  When I decided to do a review on the ProMagix HD80A computer by Velocity Micro, I realized that it is tricky to do a review on a totally-customizable, high-end desktop computer. The review machine is just one potential configuration, which can be customized to the buyer’s needs, and because a desktop computer is in large part a sum of its parts, reviews are a bit more complicated. Wacom One Drawing Tablet Review

Review: Wacom One Display Tablet with ExpressKey Remote       When I was given the opportunity to review Wacom’s new Wacom One Creative Pen Display tablet, (not to be confused with the earlier One by Wacom, (which has no display)), I was intrigued. The Wacom One is a tablet with a 13.3” display, and has most of the pen input functions you would expect from a Wacom device, just slimmed down so as not to compete with their higher end products.

He printed a lot of ABS using this setup,

GoPro Fusion is here!

GoPro Fusion is here! Since I first heard about the Fusion many months ago, and then when I actually got to see one in person at the GoPro 2017 Launch Event, I have been extremely excited to get my hands on one, and see how useful it really is.  Well, a few weeks ago, I got that chance and I’ve been playing around with it ever since.  It’s definitely different than any other camera I’ve used in the past, because

GoPro 2016 Launch Event Post Magazine Article

I will be posting information on my impressions from the 2017 GoPro Launch event soon, but in the meantime, I wanted to link to the article I wrote for last year’s event, since it has some useful information on the HERO5, which is a useful primer to what I will be covering in the new article.

Matrox MC-100 Review

Heath Firestone       January 2013 Matrox makes really interesting products, but sometimes at first glance, it can be difficult to recognize what is particularly unique about their offerings. However, when put into practice, they do things nothing else on the market does. The MC-100 is no exception. It is billed asa mini converter that does HD-SDI to HDMI for 3G/3D/HD/SD.
